"I have moments of real terror when I think we may be losing this generation. We have to bring these people into the active life of the community and make them feel necessary." ~Eleanor Roosevelt 1934 "Vital community: one in which all members of the community understand how what they do impacts the rest of the community." |

Click here for community information on resources and events in our own community. I've developed the information on the website you are being directed to. At www.oakdalepark.org, under the "community" tab, follow the horizontal index at the top of the page. Following are some of the things you'll see: Community Events: A large listing of websites that list activities and events in our community, mostly related to the Arts. Community Resources: A listing of places to go for help when you need it. Some ways to find help are to go to your local neighborhood organization or church, call 2-1-1 and ask for help, or go on-line following the links shown on the "Resources" page. Want to volunteer? Check out that link, also. Community Development: Find a listing of community organizations and neighbor organizations, basic principles of Christian Community Development, and links to some of the community development initiatives in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Community Data: On-line sources of data on our community. Great for writing grants or doing research. Social Justice: A key foundation for community development is social justice. Want to become social active and fight against the injustices that still plague our community? Check out the variety of organizations in our community that aren't just talking, they are doing it! Soon to come, links to information on the some of the most common social justice issues in America, like hunger, housing, poverty, education, racism, crime, etc. |
